Have you talked to colleagues and found out about smoothie bikes? Have you seen at a carnival or a local fete a bike making a smoothie and wondered about it? Or have you seen a smoothie bike at work? Or event thought of hiring a smoothie bike? Do you want more information?
Okay lets start with the basics. What is a smoothie bike? To be honest the hint is in the name. It is a pedal bike that has a blender on the front or rear where you can put fruit, ice etc and blend it. Sounds simple right? That is because it is. You pedal and this spins the blades in the blender and hey presto you have a smoothie. Hence a smoothie bike. Okay so why are smoothie bikes popular? Well, this could be for multiple reasons. For one it is very accessible for everyone. From school children to elders. We have also done work with people with disabilities. It is fun for everyone and hugely rewarding to blend your own smoothies. Second is the smoothies themselves. On a hot day, smoothies are ideal. You can choose what you want to put in, jump on the bikes, blend then drink. On hot day this is a great crowd pleaser. Are there any benefits to a regular smoothie? Well depends, smoothie bikes don’t require power, so they are great for events outdoors, also as you have to put in some work, they are great for encouraging activity. Are there any downsides? You have to be a bit selective on the smoothies. Smoothie bikes can create very smooth smoothies however if you ask them to blend nuts for example then this requires a lot of effort on the rider’s part. This results in a lumpier smoothie. This may not be to everyone’s taste. The last thing that smoothie bikes are becoming more popular for is talking about sustainability. As they don’t require any electricity they act as great conversation starter, add to that, talking about how to source ingredients sustainably and you have an engaging way of bringing this to people’s attention.
